Nearly 50 years ago, James N. Mosel reported “…mounting evidence shows that very often the training makes little or no difference in job behavior.”  According to Tim Baldwin and Kevin Ford, “There is a growing recognition of a ‘transfer problem’ in organizational training today. It is estimated that while American industries annually spend up to $100 billion on training and development, not more than 10% of these expenditures actually result in transfer to the job.”

The ultimate goal of training and development has always been to achieve permanent, measurable improvements in performance that have a positive impact on business results.

How confident are you when a participant leaves a training session that he/she is capable of implementing these new skills once back on the job?   Questions and uncertainties swirl in our head…did the participant learn the skills…is that how his manager wants this person to perform…will the work environment support her making changes to her daily routine and work processes???

We have all likely seen the “Transfer of Training” matrix developed by Mary L. Broad and John W. Newstrom that discusses what needs to take place ‘before-during-after’ training by the ‘manager-trainer-participant,’ but in this time-starved world we work in, how do we really bring transformational learning to life?

Join Dee Clarke of The TEAM Approach, Inc.,  as she delves into this dilemma and offers practical tools, insights, and suggestions to get a greater return on your training investment.

Educated in Business at the University of Minnesota, Dee Clarke has worked successfully in our training world for over 25 years and has been active with ASTD throughout her career.  (She was a Past-President of the Golden Gate-San Francisco Chapter and a past Director of Professional Development for our Chapter.)  From her experiences, Dee has developed a professional style that delivers valuable content in a natural, pleasing manner.  Plus her years "in the trenches" give her the real-life experiences and credibility that allow her audiences to identify immediately with her message.

BONUS:  Everyone attending our session will receive a special “Train to IngrainTM” whitepaper that details how Train to IngrainTM  is a uniquely structured process that focuses on eight critical elements needed to address the transfer-of-training dilemma.  It gives organizations a simple and realistic methodology for transferring knowledge into implementable and sustainable skills that create permanent improvements in workplace performance.

*Please note meeting begins at 8:30.  Doors open at 8:00 am for coffee/muffins/juice and networking.
